Athletes Begin to Report this Week

The 2008-09 Alfred State College athletic season kicks off this week as preseason camps open in preparation for the fall seasons.  Football, volleyball, men's & women's soccer, and baseball will all report to campus and begin practice by Sunday while the cross country team will begin practicing on Tuesday.
Eight Pioneers Earn Academic All-American Honors

Eight Alfred State College athletes have earned NJCAA Academic All-Americans for excellence in the classroom.  Cal Ayers (Letchworth), Keenan Hall (Monticello), Kaila Smith (Alfred Almond), Dustin Falkner (Letchworth), and Gallaway Longenecker (Manheim, PA) were all named Distinguished Academica All-Americans while Kevin Underhill (Somers), Paul Farrell (St. Francis), and Sarah Palmiter (Alfred Almond) were named All-American.
Athletic Department hands out End of Year Awards

The Alfred State College athletic department recently handed out their end-of-year awards at a ceremony held at college's Lake Lodge. 
Five Men's Soccer Players named All-WNYAC

Five members of the Alfred State College men's soccer team have been honored by being named All-Western New York Athletic Conference.  Tyler Paulsen (Letchworth), Dustin Falkner (Letchworth), and Dominic Bisone (N. Tonwanda) were named to the first team while Hiroshi Ozaki (Tokyo, Japan) and Ryan Neal (St. Mary's, PA) were named to the second team.
Pioneers fall in final seconds

Corey Metcalfe scored with under ten seconds remaining to lift #9 Finger Lakes CC to a 2-1 victory over #8 Alfred State in a Region III Division III Tournament 1st round contest.  The Lakers improve to 11-8 and move on to the quarterfinals to take on #1 SUNY Cobleskill while the Pioneers end their season with a 7-7-2 record.
Pioneers earn #8 Seed

The Alfred State College men's soccer team has earned the #8 seed in the Region III Division III Tournament and will match up with #9 Finger Lakes CC on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. in a 1st round contest.
Pioneers and Spartans Battle to a Tie

Alfred State College and Cayuga CC battled to a 2-2 tie in an end to end action filled contest.  The Pioneers finish out the regular season with a 7-6-2 record (7-4-2 Region III Division III) while Cayuga falls to 3-11-1 on the year.
Pioneers make it four straight

The Alfred State College men's soccer team downed Jamestown CC 3-1 to earn their fourth straight victory and improve to 7-6-1 on the year (7-4-1 in Region III Division III play).

Pioneers record another shutout

The Alfred State College men's soccer team recorded its fifth shutout of the season on Thursday in a 5-0 victory at JCC-Olean.  The Pioneers improve to 6-6-1 on the season and 6-4-1 in Region III Division III play.
Late Goals lead Pioneers past Erie

Alfred State and Erie CC battled in a scoreless tie for the first 81 minutes but the Pioneers netted two goals in the final 8:20 to down the Kats 2-0.  With the win the Blue and Gold improve to 5-6-1 on the season and 5-4-1 in Region III Division III play.
