Alfred State College - Men's Basketball News
The Alfred State men's basketball team trailed 44-34 at half and by as many 14 in the 2nd half but were able to claw back into the game to cut it to 77-75 in the final two minutes but were unable to get any closer as Genesee CC earned a 83-78 victory. The Cougars are now 14-9 (6-2 WNYAC) while the Pioneers are 6-15 (1-7 WNYAC).
Briana Dorsey (Rochester/School of the Arts) and Pat Parker (Queens/Hillcrest) have been named the Alfred State athletes of the week by the SID office.
Jamestown CC was able to hold off all the comeback attempts Alfred State threw at them and held on for a 62-55 victory in a tight WNYAC contest. The Pioneers are now 6-14 on the year and 1-6 in conference play.
The Alfred State men's basketball team starting five all had big performances as the Pioneers downed JCC-Olean 78-68 in a WNYAC contest on Tuesday. The blue & gold are now 6-13 on the season and snap a eight game slide.
Alfred State led 33-27 at half but Mercyhurst North East used a 23-2 run early in the 2nd half to grab control for a 69-64 victory in another tight WNYAC battle at the Orvis Activities Center. The Pioneers closed to within four in the final seconds but couldn't get any closer.
Niagara CCC used a 22-6 run to start the 2nd half and then held off a furious Alfred State rally to win 71-67 in a back and forth WNYAC contest at the Orvis Activities Center.
After limiting Monroe CC to just 19 points in the 1st half, the Alfred State men's basketball team couldn't hold the Tribunes offense down in the 2nd half and fell 62-39 to the Tribunes. ASC is now 5-11 overall and 0-3 in WNYAC play.
#8 Erie CC had 13 different players score as they downed Alfred State 84-60 in their first home game of 2012. ECC raced out to a 40-19 lead at halftime behind 41% shooting and six three-pointers.
The Alfred State College men's basketball team trailed by as many as 11 in the 2nd half but rallied to cut the lead to two points in the final minute but could fully overcome the deficit. JCC-Olean earned the 72-68 victory in the WNYAC opener for the Pioneers.
Sophomore basketball player Pat Parker (Queens/Hillcrest) and freshman wrestler Zach Race (Fulton/G Ray Bodley) have been named the ASC Athletes of the Week by the SID office.
