The School of Applied Technology at Alfred State College invites the public to attend an informational discussion on energy for the homeowner. Jeff Stevens, assistant professor, Electrician, Computer and Robotics Technician Department (aka “the renewable energy guy on campus”) will discuss how to evaluate your family’s current energy usage and how to find ways to lower your total energy bill, including heat, hot water, electricity, etc.

Laundry, the bane of college existence, will be become more environmentally-friendly, if not more enjoyable, at Alfred State College this fall. The largest laundry room on campus in the MacKenzie Complex has been completely updated and the results will fit in nicely with the college’s green initiative.

Alfred State College (ASC), seven partners including six NYS community colleges, and the Association of Builders and Contractors (ABC) - Empire State Chapter - have formed SUNYGREENSNY. This initiative grew out of the efforts and recommendations of NYS Gov. David Paterson's Renewable Energy Task Force. As a result, SUNYGREENSNY has been awarded a $2M grant from NYSERDA (New York State Energy Research and Development Authority) to develop clean energy technology training across the state.

ASC emergency sirenAlfred State College, in its continuing efforts to ensure the safety of its students, faculty, and staff recently added another piece to its comprehensive emergency notification system. 

Essi Corp., a company based in Broussard, LA, supplied Alfred State with a 133db outdoor, omni-directional warning siren which emits a 360 degree beam of sound on a horizontal plane.
