The Educational Foundation of Alfred, Inc., annually funds up to eight Alfred State College students through its work-grant program, allowing students who are ineligible for work-study funds to find employment on campus. The grant is renewable on an annual basis.
Members of the Educational Foundation of Alfred, Inc., Wellsville town and highway officials, family members, and Alfred State College President Dr. John M. Anderson were on hand recently to dedicate Foundation Drive in the Village of Wellsville in memory of the late James Sawyer, a dedicated Ed Foundation Board member and staunch supporter of Alfred State College.
The Board of Directors of the Educational Foundation of Alfred, Inc., has announced its slate of officers for 2009-10.
David G. Haggstrom, Angelica, has been named to the board of the Educational Foundation of Alfred, Inc. As a board member, Haggstrom will contribute his skills to the management of the property affairs, business, and concerns of the corporation; he will also participate in the adoption of resolutions and regulations for the conduct of the management of the affairs of the corporation.
Alfred State College’s fourth annual “Taste of Wellsville” was another success story as it raised $250 for the SPCA serving Allegany County and the concurrent culinary arts: baking, production and management community bake sale raised a record $2,800 for SkillsUSA, breast cancer research, and the Top Hat Club, the culinary honor society.
The School of Applied Technology at Alfred State College invites the public to attend an informational discussion on energy for the homeowner. Jeff Stevens, assistant professor, Electrician, Computer and Robotics Technician Department (aka “the renewable energy guy on campus”) will discuss how to evaluate your family’s current energy usage and how to find ways to lower your total energy bill, including heat, hot water, electricity, etc.
Local eateries will once again participate in Alfred State College’s fourth annual “Taste of Wellsville” this year, Saturday, Oct. 10, from 12:30-3:30 p.m. Restaurants and other food purveyors will showcase their tasty signature dishes in “miniature form” at stations around the Applied Technology Campus in Wellsville.

Supporters of Alfred State College gathered at the School of Applied Technology campus recently to celebrate the completion of Phase I of the Construction Workforce Development Center-the shell has been completed and the building fully enclosed. It awaits funding to complete the interior.
