John Sweeney (Barker) and Carey Crooker (Addison) have been named the NJCAA Division III runners of the week. In the newly released national poll the men's team sits in 3rd and the women in 5th.
The Alfred State College cross country teams fared very well as they competed versus a mostly four-year school field at the Highlander Invitational at Houghton College. The men finished 4th out of 12 scoring teams while the women finished 6th out of 11.
The Alfred State College athletic hall of fame will induct five new members on September 25th during Homecoming weekend. Basketball player Tom Hirsch, football player Chris Gray, baseball player Eric Baker, and cross country athletes Andy Coots and Gary Redding will become the newest members of the hall of fame. The athletic department will also be honoring the 1984 cross country team.
Both the Alfred State men's and women's cross country teams fared well at the Finger Lakes Invitational on Saturday. The men finished 2nd and the women 3rd out of seven teams.
The Alfred State College athletic department has chosen women's soccer goalie Mo Parks (Avoca) and men's cross country runner Joe Seitz (Williamsville) as the athletes of the week.
The Alfred State College cross country teams are both in the NJCAA Division III top ten. The men are rankd 3rd while the women are tied for 7th.
Both the men's and women's cross country teams at Alfred State College were victorious at the annual ASC Invitational. The women scored a 10 and the men a 29.
Twenty Alfred State College student athletes have been honored with academic awards. Eleven Pioneers were named NJCAA Academic All-American, 13 were named Academic All-Region, and 20 were named Academic All Conference.
The Alfred State College athletic department has published the 2009 fall athletic schedules. Athletes will begin reporting to campus in the middle of August with games beginning the last weekend of August.
