Women's soccer coach Anne Holmok and women's cross country coach Gary Moore have been named Region III Coaches of the Year by their peers following very successful fall season.
Jedadiah Platt (Appleton/Barker) and Jordan Rusek (Buffalo/Williamsville East) earned NJCAA DIII All-American honors following their top-15 finishes at the National Championships. Platt and Rusek were the top two runners for Alfred State all season long.
The Alfred State cross country team had a strong showing at the NJCAA Division III National Championships on Saturday at SUNY Delhi. The Lady Pioneers finished 3rd in the nation while the men finished tied for 5th. Athletes from 28 colleges competed in the event.
Five members of the Alfred State cross country team ran to All-Region honors during the Region III Championships. Jedadiah Platt (Barker) earned 1st team honors while Jordan Rusek (Williamsville East), Kim Lupo (Auburn), Claire Holleran (Penfield), and Katy Monahan (Warsaw) all raced to 2nd team honors.
Cross country runners Kim Lupo (Auburn) and Jedadiah Platt (Barker) have been named the Alfred State athletes of the week by the SID office. Lupo and Platt were the top Alfred finishers at the Region III Championships.
The Alfred State and Mohawk Valley CC women's cross country ran to a share of the Region III Championships. Both teams scored a 45 and will share the Region III title in a highly competitive race. In the men's competition the Pioneers finished 3rd out of the nine teams competing.
Heading into this weekend's Region III Championships, the Alfred State women's cross country team is tied for 3rd in the latest NJCAA Division III poll while the men are ranked #7.
The Alfred State cross country teams remained steady in this week's NJCAA Division III poll. The women's team remained in the #3 position while the men are ranked #5.
Soccer player Kali Muhleisen (Alfred Almond) and Jordan Rusek (Williamsville East) were named the Alfred State athletes of the week.
The Alfred State cross country teams both finished 11th at the DeSales Invitional on Saturday. The men's team scored 313 points while the women scored 321.
