The Alfred State College women's cross country racked up numerous awards as they raced to the NJCAA Division III National title.
The Alfred State College women's cross country raced to the NJCAA Division III National Championship on Saturday in Westfield, MA. The national championship is the second in the progams history and first since 2003.
Alfred State College cross country teammates Tara Murphy (Rochester/Wilson) and Diana Burley (Warsaw) have been named the ASC Athletes of the Week by the SID office.
The Alfred State College cross country team will enter this Saturday's NJCAA Division III National Championships as the #1 team in the country. The Lady Pioneers have been at the top or tied for the top spot for seven of the nine polls in 2011.
The #1 ranked Alfred State College women's cross country team defended their home course as they raced to the top spot at the Region III Championships. The Lady Pioneers scored 45 as they raced the 5k course full of deep mud and slick hills.
The Alfred State College women's cross country team will head into Saturday's Region III Championship at Alfred State as the #1 team in the latest NJCAA Division III poll. The Lady Pioneers will face stiff competition at Regionals as they are joined in the top ten by four other Region III opponents.
The Alfred State College cross country team moved back to the top spot of the latest NJCAA DIII poll after falling to #3 in last week's poll. The Lady Pioneers have been at the top of the poll or tied for the top three of the past four weeks.
In their final race before the Region III Championships, Alfred State competed at the annual University of Rochester Invitational. The women were the top NJCAA team finisher and 12th overall while the men finished 16th.
Football player Desmond Goode (Johnson Mountain, VA) and cross country runner Brian Gooshaw (Elmira Heights/Thomas Edison) have been named ASC athletes of the week by the SID office.
In a preview of the NJCAA Division III National Championship course, the Alfred State College women's cross country team finished 18th out of 40 teams while the men finished 21st out of 33 teams at the James Earely Invitational hosted by Westfield (MA) State College.
