A program about Alfred State’s nationally-recognized study abroad program in Sorrento, Italy, will be presented on Thursday, Nov. 1 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the School of Engineering Technology (SET), Room 215 on the Alfred campus. A light reception will be offered prior to the event at 6 p.m.
Alfred State students will be among more than 400 student volunteers from Houghton College, Alfred University, and area high schools who will be participating in “Celebrate Service, Celebrate Allegany” on Saturday, Oct. 27.
Dr. John M. Anderson, president of Alfred State, has been selected to serve as the State University of New York (SUNY) representative on the SUNY Empire State College Presidential Search Committee.
When complete, this 7,800 square foot residence/entertainment facility will feature state-of-the-art geothermal and solar technologies and will serve as a demonstration home in Alfred (similar to the zero energy demonstration home on the Wellsville campus) that showcases green technologies and programs at Alfred State.
Alfred State is presenting “The Wiz”, Nov. 8-10 at 7 p.m., with a 3 p.m. matinee on Saturday, at the Cappadonia Auditorium on the Alfred State campus. Tickets are $7 for general admission and $2 for students.
The Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) has listed Alfred State as a leader among top colleges and universities to have highly innovative sustainability initiatives underway on campus.
Alfred State recently celebrated two historic ribbon-cutting events during its annual Homecoming Weekend. Both ceremonies marked the completion of sizeable construction projects that are among the largest the college has seen since the 1960s.
The newly remodeled dining location (called ‘10 Elm’ for short) blends the ‘grab-n-go’ convenience of fresh and frozen entrée options with a comfortable dining experience that offers traditional and healthy food favorites to students and campus visitors alike.
Dick Giedlin, one of the Pioneers of the Alfred State athletic program, passed away on October 2, 2012 in Virginia Beach, VA. Giedlin dedicated 30 years to Alfred State and the college
Hundreds of alumni, friends, and families of current students are expected to join in Homecoming weekend events scheduled for Oct. 11 – 14.
