Dr. Ron Rhoades, curriculum coordinator for Alfred State’s financial services associate degree program, has been elected chair of the Steering Committee of The Committee for the Fiduciary Standard (CFS).
The technical education practitioners and scholars who are defining sustainability in higher education will gather at Alfred State this summer for the college’s second sustainability conference, June 6-8. These leaders will present on innovations related to sustainable agriculture/food systems, renewable energy and energy efficiency, green construction, and more.
The six seniors presented on the work they did last semester as part of a course called Design Studio 5: Urban Design in which they worked closely with residents and community leaders in the nearby community of Bath.
Alfred State is featured in the December 2012 issue of Sustainability: The Journal of Record (pdf) for earning the AASHE (Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education) Award last fall at an awards ceremony in Los Angeles.

Architectural designs produced by architectural technology juniors Kyle Perry of Frewsburg and Steven Buchanan of Olean were displayed at the American Institute of Architecture (AIA) Rochester Chapter meeting held Dec. 14 at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT).

Alfred State’s Craig Clark, executive director of the Wellsville campus and dean of the School of Applied Technology and William Dean, professor of Architecture and Design, have been named as Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) Teaching Fellows.
Alfred State President Dr. John M. Anderson has announced that he will be leaving the college effective March 31 to assume the presidency of Millersville University of Pennsylvania.
Alfred State Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Technology Department students hosted an open house last week to unveil two electric maintenance vehicles that they restored and enhanced with sophisticated performance monitoring features.
