The Alfred State College baseball team could not solve defending Region III Division III champion Erie CC in a WNYAC doubleheader. The Kats defeated ASC 7-1 and 11-2.
Niagara CCC used big innings in both games as they swept Alfred State 7-1 & 11-4 in a WNYAC doubleheader in Sanborn on Saturday. ASC was playing for the first time in 10 days.
The Alfred State College baseball team could not get the offense and dropped a pair to Mercyhurst North East, 2-1 and 3-0, in their 2011 fall season opener. The Pioneers were a combined 2-20 in the doubleheader with runners on base.
Alfred State College Vice President for Student Affairs Dr. Steve Tyrell has announced that Dr. Daryl Arroyo has been named the new Director of Athletics, Physical Education, Recreation and Intramurals. Arroyo, who succeeds Kathy Feldman, begins his new duties at Alfred State on June 29.
Alfred State College baseball player JP Frey (Erie, PA/McDowell) has been named a NJCAA Division III 3rd team All-American. Frey is the sixth baseball All-American since the baseball program was reinstated in 1994.
Alfred State College sophomores JP Frey (Erie, PA) and Kevan Smith (Cicero North Syracuse) were both named 1st team All-Region selections this past weekend. Frey and Smith helped the Pioneers to a 14-14 mark this spring.
Mo Parks (Avoca) and JP Frey (Erie, PA) have been named the 2011 Alfred State College senior athletes of the year. Parks was a two-year member of the soccer and track & field teams while Frey has been a mainstay on the baseball team the past two years.
Wednesday's Alfred State College baseball doubleheader at Onondaga CC has been rained out. The Pioneers have now been rained out two straight days and three of their last four contests.
Tuesday's Alfred State College baseball and softball doubleheaders have been rained out due to persistent rain and poor field conditions.
The Alfred State College baseball team ran their winning streak to three and climbed back to .500 with a doubleheader sweep of Broome CC. ASC won the opener 4-3 in walk-off fashion and won the nightcap 10-3.
