The Alfred State baseball team struggled to get the offense going and fell to Keystone (PA) College JV in their 2012 spring season opener. The Giants won the opener 11-0 and the nightcap 8-3.
The NCAA Division III membership committee announced this week that it has granted exploratory status to the Alfred State athletic program. Alfred State submitted the NCAA application in January.
Jason Cronin has been named the Alfred State College interim baseball coach. Cronin brings with him nearly fifteen years of coaching experience.

The Alfred State College fall baseball season came to an end on Tuesday following a 12-3 loss at Erie CC in the 1st round of the WNYAC Tournament. ASC jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the 1st inning but could never recover after ECC answered with six runs in the bottom of the 1st.
During Homecoming 2011, five Alfred State College athletic alumni were inducted into the athletic department hall of fame. Swimmer John Meade, track & field athlete Damian Rodriguez, lacrosse player Matthew Covert, baseball player Joe Greany, and swimmer Ashley Vogl will join the 56 inducted athletes.

The Alfred State College baseball team closed out the WNYAC regular season on Sunday with 11-1 and 13-9 losses to Genesee CC. ASC heads into the WNYAC tournament starting on Tuesday with a 2-10 record.
The Alfred State College baseball team earned a pair of walk-off wins as they swept a doubleheader from Jamestown CC on Saturday, 4-3 and 3-2. The wins are the first of the fall for the Pioneers and improve the team to 2-8 in WNYAC play.
The Monroe CC pitching staff held Alfred State to just five hits on the day as they swept a WNYAC doubleheader 2-0 and 5-0.
