The Alfred State College baseball team split a WNYAC doubleheader with Monroe CC in Rochester on Saturday. ASC fell 8-3 in the opener but rebounded for a 4-2 victory in game two.
The Alfred State College baseball team dropped a pair of 1-0 decisions at Niagara CCC this afternoon. NCCC scored the winning run in the 6th in the opener and in the 7th in the nightcap.
Tom Kenney, the Alfred State College baseball coach, registered his 600th career victory as skipper of the Pioneers on Sunday with a 2-1, nine-inning victory in game one of a doubleheader versus Erie CC. ASC fell 3-1 in the nightcap and are now 3-1 (3-1 WNYAC) in the fall season.
The Alfred State College baseball team opened up the fall season with a doubleheader sweep of Mercyhurst North East. Joe Wallace (Avoca) tossed a six inning no-hitter in the game one 10-0 victory while the Pioneers rallied for five runs in the 7th for a 8-7 victory in the nightcap.
Twenty Alfred State College student athletes have been honored with academic awards. Eleven Pioneers were named NJCAA Academic All-American, 13 were named Academic All-Region, and 20 were named Academic All Conference.
The Alfred State College athletic department has published the 2009 fall athletic schedules. Athletes will begin reporting to campus in the middle of August with games beginning the last weekend of August.
