Briana Dorsey (Rochester/School of the Arts) and Pat Parker (Queens/Hillcrest) have been named the Alfred State athletes of the week by the SID office.
The Alfred State indoor track & field team had an impressive showing at the Ithaca Bomber Invitational. The Pioneers had numerous athletes finish in the top eight of the competition that featured nine schools.
Jamestown CC was able to hold off all the comeback attempts Alfred State threw at them and held on for a 62-55 victory in a tight WNYAC contest. The Pioneers are now 6-14 on the year and 1-6 in conference play.
The Alfred State women's basketball team played another tight Region III Division II contest and fell 57-54 at Jamestown CC on Thursday. The Lady Pioneers are now 10-8 overall and 1-3 in RIII DII action.
Mercyhurst North East won the final four matches of the evening as they defeated Alfred State 38-15 in the Pioneers final home dual of the season. Alfred is now 4-4 (1-4 WNYAC) on the season in dual action while Mercyhurst is now 5-6 (5-1 WNYAC).
Alfred State football players Brett Harrington (Rochester/Edison Tech) and Dominic Sylvester (Horseheads) signed national letters of intent on Wednesday to continue their collegiate careers. Harrington signed with Western Kentucky University while Sylvester inked with the University of Alabama Birmingham.
The Alfred State men's basketball team starting five all had big performances as the Pioneers downed JCC-Olean 78-68 in a WNYAC contest on Tuesday. The blue & gold are now 6-13 on the season and snap a eight game slide.
Women's basketball player Amie Brooks (Pavilion) and wrestler Justin Hunt (Ripley) have been named the Alfred State athletes of the week by the SID office.
The Alfred State swimming team wrapped up the regular season at the Jamestown Invitational on Saturday. The men's team scored 261 points in the four team competition to earn 2nd place while the women scored 34 points on the day.
Justin Hunt (Ripley) won the 141 lb. weight class to lead the Alfred State wrestling team at the annual Jamestown Open. Tyler Peet (Unadilla Valley) also placed, earning a 2nd place finish at 149 lbs.
