The NCAA Division III Management Council announced today that Alfred State has been accepted as provisional members. The announcement moves Alfred State into NCAA DIII competition starting in the 2013-14 school year.
The Alfred State men's basketball team snapped a four-game losing streak with a 66-60 victory over Elmira JV on Thursday evening. The Pioneers are now 7-11 on the season.
The Alfred State swim team competed vs. Jamestown CC and Mercyhurst North East on Wednesday evening.
The Alfred State wrestling team got back on the winning track with a 28-20 victory over Jamestown CC on Wednesday evening. The Pioneers are now 2-5 on the year.
The Alfred State men's basketball team fell 76-47 to Genesee CC as the Pioneers continued their five-game roadtrip. The Pioneers are now 6-11 on the year and 0-5 in WNYAC play.
Karley Fanning (Bishop Kearney) scored 25 points and grabbed eight rebounds as the Alfred State women's basketball team downed Genesee CC 81-35 in a Region III Division II contest. The Lady Pioneers improve to 11-6 overall and 3-1 in RIII DII play.
Alfred State swimmer Mark Pendleton (Beacon) has been named the Alfred State athlete of the week. Pendleton and the Pioneers dove into the 2013 schedule this past week with competitions at Wells College and Monroe CC.
Travis Harvey (Alfred Almond) led the Alfred State wrestling contingent at the Mt. Union Purple Raider Open on Sunday. Harvey and the Pioneers were one of 21 teams that competed in the non-scoring event.
The Alfred State men's basketball team couldn't solve #6 Monroe CC and fell 128-48. The Tribunes are now 17-2 on the year while the Pioneers are 6-10, 0-4 WNYAC.
Monroe CC earned their 12th straight victory 93-51 over Alfred State on Saturday evening. The Lady Tribunes are now 13-4 on the year while the Lady Pioneers are 10-6.
