Dr. John C. Williams, dean of the School of Architecture, Management and Engineering Technology, said NAAB granted the status after approving the Architecture and Design Department’s accreditation plan and conducting an initial candidacy visit.
The Department of Architecture and Design is proud to announce “Architecture is a noun,” an upcoming lecture by Tod Williams of Tod Williams Billie Tsien Architects on Oct. 14 at 6 p.m. in room 215 of the Engineering Technology Building on the Alfred campus.
Senior architectural technology student Kyle (Christian) Perry is already making a name for himself in the highly competitive design field—his work has been featured at the 2013 National Convention of the American Institute of Architects and he’s planning a senior thesis that will literally change lives—the design for a new infant care hospital in Honduras.
Alfred State is proud to announce the kickoff of a new Bachelor of Architecture program by its Department of Architecture and Design this fall. One of only eight BArch programs in the State of New York, it is the only degree of its kind in the SUNY system and the only one offered by a public university.
Professor William Dean, Architecture and Design, accompanied two second-year architectural technology students to the First Presbyterian Church of Bath, NY for a public presentation of conceptual designs that included new signage and a veterans’ memorial.
Alfred State student Kyle Perry, of Frewsburg, a third-year architectural technology student in the Department of Architecture and Design, has earned an honorable mention award and a cash prize of $500 for his outstanding architectural design entry in the 2012 AIAS/Kawneer “Enlightened Libraries” Competition.
The six seniors presented on the work they did last semester as part of a course called Design Studio 5: Urban Design in which they worked closely with residents and community leaders in the nearby community of Bath.
Architectural designs produced by architectural technology juniors Kyle Perry of Frewsburg and Steven Buchanan of Olean were displayed at the American Institute of Architecture (AIA) Rochester Chapter meeting held Dec. 14 at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT).
Three Alfred State students have been awarded cash prizes for architectural sketches they produced while participating in Alfred State’s study abroad program in Sorrento, Italy earlier this year.
Deschamps is a junior studying architectural technology at Alfred State. He was selected for the scholarship out of more than 2,600 applications and will receive $4,500 from the organization to participate in Alfred State’s study abroad program in Sorrento, Italy in January.
