ASC President Convenes Meeting with Volunteer Boards

Alfred State College President Dr. John M. Anderson recently convened a meeting of all the volunteer boards that serve the institution. This first-ever gathering of its type served to acquaint new board members (and experienced ones) with the goals and responsibilities of the other volunteer boards.

Holzer Donates $20,000 to his Alma Mater

Donald Holzer, Murfreesboro, TN, Alfred State College class of 1956 (plant and soil science), recently donated $20,000 to his alma mater to help modernize the soils laboratory and provide students with more practical, hands-on techniques to evaluate soil properties and enhance soil quality.

Rusted Root to Perform at Alfred State College

PCI and Alumni Association Partner to Create a New Alumni Directory

The Alfred State College Alumni Association has chosen to partner with PCI Publishing Concepts to create a new Alumni Directory. This is long overdue as the last directory was published in 1994 and since that time nearly 15,000 new alumni have been added to our ranks.

UNI-SELECT Partnership for Automotive Parts Technology Program Reviewed

The School of Applied Technology at Alfred State College is pleased to announce that the relatively new automotive parts technology curriculum, begun in fall 2007, will be offered in an online format beginning fall 2008. This new format was approved at a recent partnership meeting with ASC and UNI-SELECT.

Workforce Development Center Groundbreaking

Despite the chill and threatened rain of a June day, attendees at the celebratory groundbreaking for the new Workforce Development Center on the School of Applied Technology campus of Alfred State College, attendees received a warm welcome from Dr. John M. Anderson, college president, as well as other members of the college community involved in bringing the project to fruition.

Barbara Becker Bench Dedication

Threatening skies could not dampen the joy at Alfred State College recently as ASC alumna Barbara Becker, '47, of Corning, visited campus to participate in the dedication of a bench and perpetual garden in memory of her parents, Leo and Frances Becker.

Allegany Arc Donates to Alfred State College

Allegany Arc recently contributed $1,000 to the Khalid Ashraf Memorial Endowed Scholarship at Alfred State College. The scholarship honors the memory of Dr. Khalid Ashraf who was killed in an accident in June 2007. The money is a result of contributions Arc received as memorials in Ashraf's name after his passing last year.

Alice Foust Bench Dedication

Friends, relatives, and colleagues of the late Alice Foust gathered on the Alfred State College campus recently to dedicate a bench and garden in her memory. Foust, who served as a cleaner on campus until her retirement in 2005, lost her battle with cancer last year.
