Coach Boyd recently invited former students to return to campus for an annual women's basketball game.
The Automotive Trades Department of Alfred State
College, in conjunction with Tenneco, sponsored a "Drive and Ride" event in
September at the Wellsville Campus.
Gary Moore, Alfred State College class of 1976, is
head coach of the full spectrum of running sports on campus: men's and
women's cross country, men's and women's indoor track, and men's and women's
outdoor track.
John Garippa, associate professor, Automotive Trades
Department, Alfred State College, was recently named the 2008 Educator of the
Year at the North American Council of Automotive Teachers (NACAT) conference
held recently at the Pennsylvania College of Technology in Williamsport.
Alfred State College's first
Homecoming/ Family weekend in a number of years was declared a success, despite
the almost constant rain and a couple of unfortunate losses on the playing
field.
Local eateries will once again participate in Alfred State College's "Taste of Wellsville," this year, Saturday, Oct. 11, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Restaurants and other food purveyors will showcase their tasty signature dishes in "miniature form" at stations around the Applied Technology Campus.
Alfred State College Homecoming/Family Weekend is September 11-14, 2008. A number of activities have been scheduled including tours of the campus, a Rusted Root concert, several athletic games, alumni group reunion gatherings,
Alfred State College President Dr. John M. Anderson recently convened a meeting of all the volunteer boards that serve the institution. This first-ever gathering of its type served to acquaint new board members (and experienced ones) with the goals and responsibilities of the other volunteer boards.
Donald Holzer, Murfreesboro, TN, Alfred State College
class of 1956 (plant and soil science), recently donated $20,000 to his alma
mater to help modernize the soils laboratory and provide students with more
practical, hands-on techniques to evaluate soil properties and enhance soil
quality.
Alfred State College is ready to rock into its second
century by presenting a Rusted Root concert as part of Homecoming/Family
Weekend, Friday, Sept. 12, at 8 p.m. in the Orvis Activities Center.
