Local eateries will once again participate in Alfred State College's "Taste of Wellsville," this year, Saturday, Oct. 11, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Restaurants and other food purveyors will showcase their tasty signature dishes in "miniature form" at stations around the Applied Technology Campus.
Alfred State College Homecoming/Family Weekend is September 11-14, 2008. A number of activities have been scheduled including tours of the campus, a Rusted Root concert, several athletic games, alumni group reunion gatherings,
Alfred State College President Dr. John M. Anderson recently convened a meeting of all the volunteer boards that serve the institution. This first-ever gathering of its type served to acquaint new board members (and experienced ones) with the goals and responsibilities of the other volunteer boards.
Donald Holzer, Murfreesboro, TN, Alfred State College
class of 1956 (plant and soil science), recently donated $20,000 to his alma
mater to help modernize the soils laboratory and provide students with more
practical, hands-on techniques to evaluate soil properties and enhance soil
quality.
Alfred State College is ready to rock into its second
century by presenting a Rusted Root concert as part of Homecoming/Family
Weekend, Friday, Sept. 12, at 8 p.m. in the Orvis Activities Center.
A mid-summer rain couldn't dampen the spirits of those
who gathered at Alfred State College recently to dedicate the Professor Eddy
Foster Memorial Bench and Garden.

Distinguished Teaching Professor, Physical and Life Sciences Department, Alfred
State College, has received the 2008 FORE Triumph Educator Award from
the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).
The Alfred State College Alumni Association has chosen to partner with PCI Publishing Concepts to create a new Alumni Directory. This is long overdue as the last directory was published in 1994 and since that time nearly 15,000 new alumni have been added to our ranks.
The School of
Applied Technology at Alfred State College is pleased to announce that the
relatively new automotive parts technology curriculum, begun in fall 2007, will
be offered in an online format beginning fall 2008. This new format was
approved at a recent partnership meeting with ASC and UNI-SELECT.
Despite the chill and threatened rain of a June day, attendees at the celebratory groundbreaking for the new Construction Workforce Development Center on the School of Applied Technology campus of Alfred State College, attendees received a warm welcome from Dr. John M. Anderson, college president, as well as other members of the college community involved in bringing the project to fruition.
