Alfred State Provost Dr. Kristin Poppo has announced the dean’s list of academically impressive students for spring 2017. To be listed, students must have completed at least 12 credit hours for the semester and earned a 3.5 grade point average (GPA) out of a possible 4.0. For the most recent semester, the dean’s list includes 737 students. In addition, 172 of these students achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA.
“I hope students on our dean’s list are enjoying their summer break because they’ve earned it,” stated Poppo. “Our professors are so proud when they witness a student mastering their course work and excelling in applied learning. These students have earned recognition for academic excellence which will pay off with knowledge and skills to launch them in their careers.”
The dean for the School of Architecture, Management, and Engineering Technology (SAMET) confirms 354 students received the honor. The dean’s list for the School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) includes 202 students. At the School of Applied Technology (SAT), another 181 students made the dean’s list.
Five graduating students also earned the Orvis Award for Excellence in scholarship, service, leadership, and character. This award honors Paul B. Orvis, a former president of Alfred State and State University of New York dean for two-year colleges.
