Women 8th, Men 9th at Hamilton Invite

The Alfred State women's cross country team finished 8th while the men were 9th at the Hamilton College Invitational. The Lady Pioneers scored a 254 while the men scored a 253.

The Alfred State women's cross country team finished 8th while the men were 9th at the Hamilton College Invitational.  The Lady Pioneers scored a 254 while the men scored a 253.


Kim Lupo (Auburn) was the top finisher on the women's side in the 5k course.  She crossed the finish line in 21:12.9 to earn 65th place  Megan Dillon (Lake Shore) was 84th (22:07.4), Elizabeth Brown (Randolph) was 87th (22:08.9), and Anna Burkett (Frewsburg) was 90th (22:13.0).  Katy Monahan (Warsaw) rounded out the top five with a 95th place finish (22:24.2).


The host Hamilton won the team title with 33 points.  Alfred was the 2nd best NJCAA school trailing only Mohawk Valley CC's 236 points.  135 runner finished the race.


Jordan Rusek (Williamsville East) was the top male finisher with a 48th place finish.  He ran the 5-mile course in 28:54.2.  Jedadiah Platt (Barker) was 51st (28:59.5), Zach Hale (Greece Athena) was 87th (30:37.9), and Tom Lattanzi (Kings Park) was 92nd (31:13.6).  Eric Ransley (Midlakes) was the 5th man in with a 100th place finish (31:51.4).


East Stroudsburg University took home the team title with a score of 22.  Alfred was the 2nd best NJCAA school in the competition trailing only MVCC's 233 points. 133 runners finished the race.


The Pioneers, ranked #2 in both the men's and women's NJCAA DIII poll, return to action next Saturday when they compete at the DeSales University Invitational.
