The Alfred State College lacrosse team was held scoreless in the 4th quarter and saw their 5-4 lead evaporate in a 8-5 loss to Cayuga CC.  The Spartans are now 3-4 on the year while the Pioneers are 0-6.

The Alfred State College lacrosse team was held scoreless in the 4th quarter and saw their 5-4 lead evaporate in a 8-5 loss to Cayuga CC.  The Spartans are now 3-4 on the year while the Pioneers are 0-6.

Gabe Zsiros scored with 13:37 remaining to tie the game at 5-5 and then Matt Festa scored the next three goals to give Cayuga the victory.  Prior to the goals in the 4th, Jack Howard scored CCC's first four goals. 

Kevin Gardrvits (Glen Cove) netted three of the Pioneers five goals while Mike Hart (Ajax, ONT) had two goals.  Kyle Davis (Cortland/Homer) and Gary Parmelee (Geneva) each were credited with an assist.

Scott Blauvelt made 14 saves for the Spartans while Brad Stowell (Marcellus) also made 14 for ASC.

The game played in snow showers and heavy wind was tied at 2-2 after one, tied 3-3 at half, and ASC led 5-4 after three.

The Pioneers return to action on Saturday when they travel to Mercyhurst North East for a 1 p.m. face-off with the Saints.
