Swimming Dives Into New Season

The Alfred State College swimming team began the 2008-09 season by competing at the Geneseo Invitational.  Both the men's and women's team finished 5th in the competition that featured SUNY Geneseo, SUNY Brockport, Alfred University, and Monroe CC.

The Alfred State College swimming team began the 2008-09 season by competing at the Geneseo Invitational.  Both the men's and women's team finished 5th in the competition that featured SUNY Geneseo, SUNY Brockport, Alfred University, and Monroe CC.

Brett Kozlowski (N. Tonawanda) was 9th in the 100 breast (1:08.87) while Nathan Forrest (Royalton Hartland) was 10th (1:10.68).  Dan Langworthy (Peekskill) was 11th in the 50 free (23.81) and the 100 free (52.95), Alex Newell (Binghamton) was 12th in the 200 free (1:55.93) and 12th in the 500 free (5:22.40), and Kevin Minderlein (Salesianum) was 12th in the 1,000 free (12:13.28)

The men's 200 free relay team of Aaron Mychack (Lansing), Valenta, Kozlowski, and Langworthy (1:37.69) and the 400 free relay team of Newell, Kozlowski, Langworthy, and Mychack (3:28.85) each finished 5th. 

Jessica Chan (New Hyde Park) was the lone female Pioneer that competed.  She was 7th in the 100 butterfly (1:11.54), 10th in the 200 IM (2:34.47), and 13th in 100 back (1:13.29).

The men's team accumulated 92 points while the women's team scored 17.  SUNY Geneseo won both the team titles (538 women and 517 men).

The Pioneers return to action next Saturday when they travel to the Genesee CC Invitational for a 1 p.m. start.
