The Alfred State College volleyball team rallied from a 2-1 deficit to defeat Monroe CC 3-2 in a WNYAC match-up in Rochester on Tuesday evening.  ASC won the first game 25-21 but fell 17-25 and 16-25 to fall in a hole before battling back for 25-22 and 15-12 wins.

The Alfred State College volleyball team rallied from a 2-1 deficit to defeat Monroe CC 3-2 in a WNYAC match-up in Rochester on Tuesday evening.  ASC won the first game 25-21 but fell 17-25 and 16-25 to fall in a hole before battling back for 25-22 and 15-12 wins.

Emily Linn (Portville) led Alfred State with 13 kills and nine digs while Brittany Haines (Salamanca) passed out 36 assists and was credited with 14 digs and four kills.  Bobbi Hopkins (Southwestern) added nine kills, nine digs, and four service aces, Kelly McDermott (Webster Thomas) finished with 13 digs and three aces, Shelby Gadsen (Olean) recorded six kills and four digs, and Michelle Marinich (Chenango Forks) had six kills and three digs.

Alfred State improves to 4-4 (3-3 Region III Division III) while Monroe falls to 4-5.  This is the second time in the young season that the Lady Pioneers have downed the Lady Tribunes.

The blue & gold have over a week off before returning to action on Wednesday, September 23rd when they entertain Niagara CCC.  Action is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. at the Orvis Activities Center.
