Reynolds Wins Pole Vault as Indoor Track opens season

Dan Reynolds (Wayland Cohocton) won the pole vault as the Alfred State College indoor track & field team opened up the 2009 season at the RIT Invitational.

Reynolds qualified for the NJCAA National Championships (March 6-7 @ Texas Tech) while winning the pole vault with a leap of 4.40 m.  Teammate Alex Curran (Williamson) finished 4th in the event with a vault of 4.10.

Athletes qualifiying for the Region III Championships included:

  • Paul Golish (Bolivar Richburg): Shot Put, 11.20 m
  • Emily Johns (Bath Haverling): High Jump, 1.47 m
  • Allynne O'Hearn (Pelham, NH/Hornell): 1 Mile, 6:37.44
  • Lindsey Johnson (Dansville): Weight Throw: 6.94 m & shot put 8.60 m

The Pioneers return to action next Saturday when they travel to SUNY Fredonia to compete in the annual Mary Phillips Invitational.  Events are set to begin at 11 a.m.
