The 2009 NJCAA Division III Track and Field Championships came to a close on Saturday at a gusty Pioneer Stadium. The Pioneer men finished 4th overall with 101 points while the women were 7th with 53 points
Harper College took home their third straight men's championship by edging SUNY Delhi by eight points, 142-134. The Hawks won the title in the final event with a second place finish in the 4 x 400 relay.

Bridget McMahon (Avoca) and Shawna McNeil (Hornell) led the Lady Pioneers with an All-American performances. McMahon crossed the line in 2nd in the 1,500 m. (5:20.20). McNeil (Hornell) earned her second All-American honor with a 2nd place finish in the high jump. Her best leap of day measuered 1.55 m. She also finished 3rd in the 100 m hurdles (16.62)
Emily Johns (Bath) finished 6th in the high jump (1.45 m), Kaleigh Ligoci (Cicero North Syracuse) finished 7th in the 3,000 m steeplechase (14:11.47), and Lindsey Johnson (Dansville) was 7th in the shot put (10.22 m).
The 4 x 400 relay team of Reaghan Bulkley (Avoca), McMahon, Ligoci and Johns finished 8th in 5:11.12.
David Gross (Brockport) led the men's team today with a 3rd place finish in the shot put (15.05 m). John Sweeney (Barker) was 5th in the 5,000 m (16:33.93), Logan Drummer (Pioneer) finished 7th in the 1,500 m (4:16.41).
At the conclusion of the meet, Harper College's Ryan Asta and Vanessa Mensie were named the field athletes of the meet while Delhi's Chris Burke and Mohawk Valley's Heather Vroman were named track athletes of the meet. The assistant coach of the year went to Erie CC's Tim Miller.
