The Alfred State men's soccer team scored five goals in the 2nd half to break a 1-1 tie en route to a 6-1 victory over Roberts Wesleyan JV as they closed out the regular season portion of their schedule. The Pioneers are now-5-8-3 on the year.

The Alfred State men's soccer team scored five goals in the 2nd half to break a 1-1 tie en route to a 6-1 victory over Roberts Wesleyan JV as they closed out the regular season portion of their schedule.  The Pioneers are now-5-8-3 on the year.


Mitchell Porter (Alfred Almond) scored the first goal of the game at 31:09 into the contest after getting a nice set-up from Daniel Asante (Bronx Leadership Academy).  Roberts answered right back two and half minutes later with a goal by Gabe Necoechea.


After the halftime break, the Pioneers offense exploded.  Colby Curran (Alfred Almond) scored five minutes into the half to give Alfred the lead for good.  Seiyo Nakazawa (Shiga, Japan) made it 3-1 after getting a pass from Porter.  Porter put the game out of reach with 30 minutes remaining when he scored his 2nd of the night assisted by Jordan Cochrane (Rush Henrietta).


Will Loomis (Cincinnatus) scored his second goal of the season with 28 minutes left after getting a pass from Dane Dechau (Randolph).  Zachary Woodard (South Jefferson) capped the scoring with eight minutes left with his first goal of the season.


Nick Smith (Arkport) played the first 76 minutes to earn the victory in net while Mike DePonceau (Salamanca) played the final 14 and made one save.


The Pioneers now await the Region III Division III Tournament seedings which will be announced on Wednesday evening.  The blue & gold finished the RIII DIII season with a 4-6 mark.
