Pioneers Rally to Tie Penn College

The Alfred State men's soccer team scored two goals in the 2nd half to erase a two goal deficit and earn a 2-2 at Penn College of Technology on Wednesday afternoon.  The Pioneers are now 1-2-1 on the season.


Benjamin Shade scored twenty minutes into the game to give the Wildcats the lone goal of the 1st half.  Eleven minutes later, Tarik Laroche made it 2-0 prior to the Pioneers mounting their comeback.


Daniel Asante (Bronx Leadership Academy) got the Pioneers on the board in the 75th minutes when he scored his second goal of the season after getting a pass from Anthony Prete (Arkport).  Just under five minutes later, Mitchell Porter (Alfred Almond) tied it up with his third goal of the season.  Nick Peraino (Geneseo) was credited with the assist.


Neither team could find the back of the net in the final ten minutes of regulation or during either of the two 10-minute overtime sessions.


The Pioneers held a 24-21 shot advantage in the contest.  Nick Smith (Arkport) made 11 saves in 110 minutes of action while Jonatan Leon-Ruiz made eight saves for Penn Tech.


The blue & gold open up a five-game homestand on Saturday when they host Jefferson CC.  The contest is slated for 3 p.m. following the women's contest between the same two schools.
