Pioneers drop two at Delhi Tournament

The Alfred State College men's soccer team couldn't get the offense going as they fell in both games at the SUNY Delhi Tournament over the weekend.  The Blue and Gold, 0-2-1 on the year, fell 6-0 to SUNY Cobleskill on Saturday and 2-1 on Sunday versus SUNY Delhi.

The Alfred State College men's soccer team couldn't get the offense going as they fell in both games at the SUNY Delhi Tournament over the weekend.  The Blue and Gold, 0-2-1 on the year, fell 6-0 to SUNY Cobleskill on Saturday and 2-1 on Sunday versus SUNY Delhi.

Cobleskill scored three goals in each half as they displayed a high powered offense.  The Tigers out-shot the Pioneers 21 to 11 on the game.

After a scoreless first 45 minutes on Sunday, Delhi scored two goals in a span of seven minutes to take control of the contest.  William Vasquez scored with 24:01 remaining in the game and then Andrew O'Brian scored with 17:50 remaining to give the Broncos a 2-0 lead.

Josh Stanley (Prattsburgh) cut it to 2-1 with 13:36 remaining when he connected on a free kick pass from Dom Bisone (Tonawanda). 

Jamie Luckett (St. Charles, MO) made 11 saves in net for ASC.

The Pioneers will look to get on the winning track on Thursday when they play their first Western New York Athletic Conference game at Genesee CC.  Play is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
