The Alfred State College men's basketball team used an early run to take control in a 82-70 victory over Medaille College JV on Sunday afternoon.  The Pioneers even up their record with the victory at 10-10.

The Alfred State College men's basketball team used an early run to take control in a 82-70 victory over Medaille College JV on Sunday afternoon.  The Pioneers even up their record with the victory at 10-10.

Travis Brannen (Elmira Free) was 11 for 14 fromt he field and led all scorers with 27 points.  He also added nine rebounds, three assists, and two blocks.  Dan Foley (Irondequoit) recorded a double-double with 18 points and 14 rebounds.  Neil Wilson (Ft. Worth, TX) finished with nine points and 10 assists while Chris Lorenzo (Syracuse/Corcoran) and Chris Dalton (Elmira Southside) both finished with eight poitns each.

Phil Maiaria led Medaille with 24 points off the bench.  Angel Flores chipped in 14 and Steve Bryant added 11.  The Mavericks connected on 14 three-pointers on the day. 

ASC shot 50% (18 for 36) in the first half and 47.1% for the day.  They held a commanding 58 to 32 advantage on the boards including 19 offensive boards. 

The Pioneers play again on Monday evening when they host Ithaca College JV at 7 p.m. at the Orvis Activities Center.
