The Alfred State lacrosse team recorded their second straight win with a 9-8 victory over Cayuga CC in a Region III contest on Wednesday.  The Pioneers are now 5-8 on the season and 4-7 in RIII play.

The Alfred State lacrosse team recorded their second straight win with a 9-8 victory over Cayuga CC in a Region III contest played at Marcellus High School.  The Pioneers are now 5-8 on the season and 4-7 in RIII play.

The contest was tie at 2-2 after the 1st quarter, Alfred led 5-4 at half, and the game was once again tied at 6-6 after three quarters.  The Pioneers scored the first two goals of the 4th quarter to grab back the lead.  CCC cut it back to one but the Pioneers scored again to regain their two-goal lead.  The Spartans scored with 10 seconds left in the game to make it a one goal game but could not get any closer.

Mike Hart (Ajax, ONT) led the offense with two goals and an assist while Chance Lowry (Waterloo) and Jordan Napierala (West Irondequoit) each had a goal and an assist.  Lance Elithorpe (Shaftsbury, VT), Aaron Koskowski (East Aurora), Kyle Davis (Cortland/Homer), Brad Murdoch (Auburn), and Morris Rogers (East Aurora) all scored once.

Brad Stowell (Marcellus) made 18 saves in net as he returned to his high school field.

The Pioneers play their final road game of the regular season on Saturday when they travel to Watertown for a 4 p.m. contest with Jefferson CC.
