In rain, snow, sleet, and peeks of sunshine, Alfred State and Finger Lakes CC split a Region III Division III doubleheader.  The Lakers used big innings to earn a 12-2 victory in game one while the Pioneers used a 5-run 3rd inning in game two en route to a 7-2 victory.

Already leading 2-0, FLCC scored four in the 4th and added six more in the 5th to race past the Pioneers in the opener.  The lone bright spot of the contest was JP Frey (Erie, PA/McDowell) who finished 2 for 3 with 2 RBI for ASC.

The Pioneers jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first inning of the nightcap and then put the game out of reach with a 5-run 3rd inning.  Key hits in the 3rd included an inside-the-park homer by Frey and a bases clearing double by Garrett Hoag (Dansville).  Hoag was the lone Pioneer with multiple hits finishing 2 for 3.  Hoag also picked up the complete game victory.  He allowed six hits and two runs while walking one and striking out six.

The blue and gold have now split four of their last five doubleheaders and are now 10-9 overall on the season and 6-6 in Region III Division III play.

The Pioneers travel to Niagara CCC on Tuesday for a 2 p.m. doubleheader with the #3 ranked Thunder Wolves.
