Outdoor Track & Field Athletes Garner Numerous Awards

Numerous members of the Alfred State College outdoor track & field teams have garnered post season accolades based on their performances at the Region III Championships and the NJCAA Division III Championships.  The men finished 2nd at Regionals and 4th at Nationals while the women finished 4th at Regionals and 7th at Nationals.

Numerous members of the Alfred State College outdoor track & field teams have garnered post season accolades based on their performances at the Region III Championships and the NJCAA Division III Championships.  The men finished 2nd at Regionals and 4th at Nationals while the women finished 4th at Regionals and 7th at Nationals.

Wenley Louis (Irondequoit) earned 1st team All-American honors by winning the long jump (7.10 m) and 2nd team All-American honors in the triple jump (14.68 m).  At regionals, he earned 1st team All-Region honors in both the long jump (7.10 m) and the triple jump (14.12 m).

Shawna McNeil (Hornell) earned 1st team All-American honors by winning the heptathlon with 3,549 points.  She was 2nd team All-American with a leap of 1.55 m in the high jump.  At regionals, she was 1st team all region by winning the high jump with a leap of 1.51 m.

Schuyler DuRoss (Johnstown) earned 1st team All-American honors and 1st team All-Region honors by sweeping the decathlon.  He scored 5,476 points at nationals to win the title and 5,232 to win regionals.

Rod Streater (Burlington, NJ) earned 1st team All-American honors and 1st team All-Region honors by winning the high jump at both nationals and regionals.  Streater recorded a leap of 1.95 m at nationals and a jump of 1.80 mm at regionals.

Alex Curran (Williamson) earned 1st team All-American honors while teammate Dan Reynolds (Wayland Cohocton) earned 2nd team All-American honors and 1st team All-Region honors in the pole vault.  Curran won the pole vault at nationals with a jump of 4.32 m.  Reynolds won the regional competition with a leap of 4.61 m and vaulted 4.32 m at nationals for a second place finish.

Bridget McMahon (Avoca) and John Sweeney (Barker) each earned 2nd team All-American honors in distance races.  McMahon finished 2nd in the 1,500 m (5:20.20) while Sweeney finished 2nd in the 10,000 m (34:27.89).

David Gross (Brockport) earned 1st team All-Region honors by winning the shot put with a toss of 14.56 m.

In total eight Pioneers earned All-American honors in ten events while six Pioneers earned All-Region honors.
