Alfred State College has announced new faculty hires for fall 2011.

Alfred State College has announced new faculty hires for fall 2011.

The new hires include, in the School of Applied Technology: Luke McIntosh, William Weaver, and Chad Wilcox.

McIntosh, of Canaseraga, has joined the Automotive Trades Department. He holds an AOS from Alfred State College. The Canaseraga Central School graduate is the son of David and Lana McIntosh of Canaseraga. He is married to the former Nicole Brewer; they are the parents of three children, all at home.

Weaver, of Angelica, has also joined the Automotive Trades Department. He holds an AOS from Alfred State College. The Angelica Central School graduate is the son of William Weaver, Belfast.

Wilcox, Cohocton, also joined the Automotive Trades Department. He holds an AOS from Alfred State College. Prior to joining the ASC faculty, Wilcox worked for the NYS Department of Transportation. The Wayland-Cohocton Central School graduate is the son of Tim and Mary Wilcox, Wayland. He is married to the former Nicole Teed; they are the parents of two young children.

In the School of Arts and Sciences, new hires include Jessica Hutchison, Jennifer Bremser, Dr. Darryl Huels, Dr. Lou Ann Woolman, Ronda Cushman McEvoy, Yvonne Morris, Dr. Kathleen Sellers, and Dr. Kathryn Link.

Hutchison, Andover, who joined the Agriculture and Veterinary Technology Department as a lecturer, holds an MS in Agronomy from the University of Georgia and a BS in environmental science from North Carolina State University. Prior to joining the ASC faculty, Hutchison served as an instructor at Cameron University. She is married to Dr. Philip Schroeder.

Bremser, Alfred, joined the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences as an assistant professor of psychology. Prior to joining the ASC faculty, Bremser served as an instructor at SUNY Albany. She holds a PhD in psychology/behavioral neuroscience and a CAS in autism, both from SUNY Albany and a BA in psychology from SUNY Plattsburgh. The Queensbury High School graduate is the daughter of Ann and John Davis, Queensbury; she and her husband Ryan are the parents of infant Annabelle.

Huels, West Seneca, returns to ASC as a visiting professor, teaching marriage and family and contemporary social problems in the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences. Huels holds a PhD in human services from Capella University, a master of social work from the University of Buffalo, and a BS in social work from Buffalo State College.

A licensed clinical social worker, Huels conducts a private practice. Prior to his return to campus as a faculty member, Huels served as a senior counselor at ASC as well as a computer technician for the campus. Prior to his time at ASC, Huels served as a family mental health therapist for Child and Family Services and as the assistant director at St. James Aquinas Psychiatric Day Treatment Center.

The South Park High School graduate is the son of Beverly Huels of Buffalo and the late Donald Huels. He is married to the former Cathy Weakland; they are the parents of Sarah, at home.

Woolman, Dansville, has been hired as an associate professor in the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences. She holds a PhD in marriage and family science from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, a master of social work and a BA from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Prior to joining the ASC faculty, Woolman taught at Bellevue University, Dana College, and Metro Community College. The Gretna (Nebraska) High School graduate is the mother of two adult children.

In the Nursing Department McEvoy has been hired as an assistant professor. She holds an MSNEd from Roberts Wesleyan College (Rochester), a BA in sociology from SUNY Fredonia, and an AAS from Alfred State College.

Also hired in the Nursing Department as an assistant professor is Morris of Bolivar. She holds and MSNEd and BS from Roberts Wesleyan College and an AAS from Alfred State College. Prior to joining the ASC faculty, Morris served as an elementary school nurse at Bolivar-Richburg Central School, a maternity nurse at Jones Memorial Hospital, Wellsville, and a med/surg nurse at Cuba Memorial Hospital. The Bolivar Central School graduate is the daughter of Doug and Peggy Sortore of Apache Junction, AZ. She and her husband Robert are the parents of seven children.

Sellers, of Cobleskill, has been hired as professor and chair of the Nursing Department. She holds a PhD in nursing administration from Adelphi University, Garden City; an MS in nursing administration from the Catholic University of America, Washington, DC; and a BS in nursing from Niagara University. Prior to joining the ASC faculty, Sellers held teaching and administrative positions at SUNY IT.

The Bishop Neuman High School (Williamsville) graduate is the daughter of Margaret Fischer, Williamsville, and the late Raymond Fischer. She is married to Joseph Sellers, MD; they are the parents of four children.

Link has been hired as an assistant professor in the Physical and Health Sciences Department. Link holds a PhD in zoology from the University of Manitoba, an MS in zoology and a BS in biology, both from Texas A&M University. She has held teaching positions at GST BOCES (Hornell and Coopers Plains), Alfred University, and University of Manitoba.

The A&M Consolidated High School graduate is the daughter of Russell and Joyce Kohel, College Station, TX. She is married to Benjamin Link; they are the parents of two young children.

Hires in the School of Management and Engineering Technology include Rhema Fuller, Danielle Green, Dr. Lisa McCool, Scott O’Connor, Dr. Ron Rhoades, CFP, and Jeremy Schwartz.

Fuller is a doctoral candidate in sport management at the University of Connecticut; he holds an MA in education and a BS in business administration, also from the University of Connecticut.

Green holds an AAS in court and realtime reporting from Alfred State College.

McCool, of Scio, has been hired as an assistant professor in the Business Department. She holds a doctor of organization from Oakland City University, and an MS in advanced leadership and an MA in management from Indiana Wesleyan University.

Prior to joining the ASC faculty, McCool served as adjunct faculty at Indiana Wesleyan University and Oakland City University.

The Maconaquah (Peru, IN) High School graduate is the daughter of Kathy Ferguson, Kokomo, IN. She is the mother of one adult child.

O’Connor has been hired as an associate professor in the computer information technology program. He holds an MEng in industrial and management engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, an MS in management systems, and a BS in psychology and social sciences, both from Clarkson University. While serving in the US Army during Desert Storm, O’Connor received the National Defense Service Medal.

Rhoades, of Alfred, has been hired as an assistant professor in the Business Department. Rhoades holds a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Florida College of Law, and a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Florida Southern College. Rhoades has over 25 years of experience as an attorney, with nearly all of those years substantially devoted to estate planning, tax planning, and retirement plan distribution planning. Rhoades also has over a decade of experience as a personal financial adviser, and he was a principal with an investment advisory firm, where he served as chair of its Investment Committee. Rhoades is the recipient of The Tamar Frankel Fiduciary of the Year Award for 2011; he was also named as one of the Top 25 Most Influential persons associated with the investment advisory profession in 2011 by Investment Advisor magazine.

The Chapel Hill, NC, native is the son of Helen Vassar, Ocala, FL. He is married to the former Catherine Christian; they are the parents of two adult children.

Schwartz has been hired as an assistant professor in the Computer Imaging and Architectural Engineering Technology Department. He holds an MFA in experimental animation from the California Institute of the Arts, Valencia, and a BA in film and digital media from the University of California at Santa Cruz.
