Nagle Finishes 2nd, Franchina 3rd at Region III Multi

Alfred State multi athletes Travis Nagle (Randolph) and Kayla Franchina (Cassadaga Valley) etched their name into the record book with solid showings at the Region III Decathlon and Heptathlon. Nagle was 2nd in the two-day event while Franchina was 3rd.

Alfred State multi athletes Travis Nagle (Randolph) and Kayla Franchina (Cassadaga Valley) etched their name into the record book with solid showings at the Region III Decathlon and Heptathlon.  Nagle was 2nd in the two-day event while Franchina was 3rd.

Nagle scored 5,227 points in the decathlon.  His best performance in day one was a long jump of 6.05 m. while his best performance on day two was a vault of 4.23 m in the pole vault. His total of 5,227 points is 5th best in Alfred State outdoor track & field history.

Franchina has scored 2,520 points in the heptathlon.  Her best effort on Sunday was the 200 m where she finished in 29.8 and her top performance on Monday was the 800 m (2:50.64).  Her point total also is the 5th best in Alfred State outdoor track & field history.

After event one of the Region III Championships, the men's team has 8 points and sits behind SUNY Delhi's 17 and Herkimer CCC's 9.  The women's team has 6 points and sits behind Herkimer's 12 and Delhi's 10.

The rest of the Region III Championships will be held April 27-28 at SUNY Delhi.
