Dave Broedel scored with 1:23 remaining in the 1st overtime to lift Mohawk Valley CC to a 2-1 victory over Alfred State in day two action at the East-West Showdown.  The Hawks improve to 4-0 on the year while the Pioneers are now 1-2.

Neither team could get on the board in the 1st half but the Hawks took a 1-0 lead early in the 2nd half on a goal by Grant Calogero.  The Pioneers had offensive opportunities throughout the game but struggled to put shots on net until Daniel Asante (Bronx/Bronx Leadership Academy) came off the bench and scored after a crossing pass from Anthony Prete (Arkport).

After a scoreless final ten minutes, the two teams battled in OT.  MVCC's Mike Ellis found Broedel who lifted a shot into the far corner out of the reach of the Pioneer netminder.

Mohawk Valley held a 20 to 7 shot advantage on the game and the game winning goal was one of four shots in OT for the Hawks.  Nick Smith (Arkport) made 12 saves while Mevludin Hajdaraj made four saves for MVCC.

In the earlier contest, Jamestown CC defeated SUNY Delhi 4-2.

The Pioneers head to Williamsport, PA on Wednesday for a 5 p.m. contest with Penn College of Technology.
