The Alfred State men's track & field team finished 6th out of 16 teams at the University of Rochester Alumni Invitational.  The women's team was 14th out of 16.

The Alfred State men's track & field team finished 6th out of 16 teams at the University of Rochester Alumni Invitational.  The women's team was 14th out of 16.

David Miller (Elmira Southside) was 2nd in the pole vault with a leap of 4.50 m to lead the Pioneers.  Jayvon Larkin (Rochester/Wilson) was 2nd in the triple jump (13.27 m) and Brian Edwards (Neversink/Tri-Valley) was 2nd in the discus (43.19 m).  Brian Tubbs (Waverly) was 4th in the 400 m (51.19) and Robert Howard (Syracuse/Nottingham) was 7th in the shot put (12.89 m).The 4x 800 relay team of Garrison Koehler (Bath Haverling), Kwesi Osei (Victor), Jordan Friedman (Clarkstown South), and Tyler Lehman (Wellsville) finished 6th in 8:48.37.

Lehman and Koehler each qualified for the NJCAA National Championships in the 800 m.  Lehman was 9th in 2:01.53 and Koehler was 10th in 2:01.88.

On the women's side Briana Dorsey (Rochester/School of the Arts) was 4th in the 100 m (12.85) while Tara Murphy (Rochester/Wilson) was 7th in the 800 m (2:24.23).  Corrie Mulligan (Alfred Almond) qualified for Nationals in the 400 hurldes (70.608).

The Pioneers scored 46 points on the day for their 6th place finish while the women scored 7 points.

Travis Nagle (Randolph) and Kayla Franchina (Cassadaga Valley) will compete on Sunday and Monday in the Region III Multis at SUNY Delhi.  The rest of the Pioneers return to action next Saturday at the SUNY Geneseo Invitational.
