Lady Split Opening Pair at OCC Tourney

The Alfred State volleyball team split their opening two matches at the Cara Bryant Memorial Tournament at Onondaga CC on Friday evening. The Pioneers defeated SUNY Delhi 25-16, 25-17 but fell to Jamestown CC 25-18, 25-16. The Lady Pioneers have two more preliminary games slated for Saturday before tournament playoffs.

The Alfred State volleyball team split their opening two matches at the Cara Bryant Memorial Tournament at Onondaga CC on Friday evening.  The Pioneers defeated SUNY Delhi 25-16, 25-17 but fell to Jamestown CC 25-18, 25-16.  The Lady Pioneers have two more preliminary games slated for Saturday before tournament playoffs.


Kay Pfleghardt (Tioga) led the way with 13 kills, 13 digs, and two aces while Lera Braun (Waterloo) had 31 assists, eight digs, and five kills.  Rebecca Hanrahan (Greene) finished with 10 kills, nine digs, Brittany Hill (Corning West) had eight kills, Mallory Eberhardt (Lyons) had 13 digs, and Mercedes Bossard (Hornell) chipped in 15 digs and three aces.


The Lady Pioneers take on Mohawk Valley CC at 10:15 a.m. and Onondaga CC at 12:30 p.m. to wrap up preliminary play before the quarterfinals start at approximately 3:30 p.m.


Alfred is now 19-8 on the year and are one win away from reaching the 20-win plateau for seventh straight season.
