The Alfred State College volleyball team won their first two matches at the Cara Bryant Memorial Tournament.  The Lady Pioneers defeated Niagara CCC, ranked #7 in the latest NJCAA Division III poll, 25-23, 22-25, 15-13 and then downed SUNY Delhi 25-23, 25-20.

The Alfred State College volleyball team won their first two matches at the Cara Bryant Memorial Tournament.  The Lady Pioneers defeated Niagara CCC, ranked #7 in the latest NJCAA Division III poll, 25-23, 22-25, 15-13 and then downed SUNY Delhi 25-23, 25-20.

Brittany Haines (Salamanca) led the way with 34 assists, 21 digs, five kills, and four aces.  Kelley Dumbleton (Warsaw) added 16 kills, 11 digs, three blocks, and two aces, Meghan Kraus (Trumansburg) had 15 kills and six aces, and Ashley Hulse (Hammondsport) chipped in seven kills and seven blocks.  Andrea Presher (Prattsburgh) added 17 digs.

Action continues on Saturday at the Cara Bryant Memorial Tournament at Onondaga CC.  The blue & gold take on #9 ranked Monroe CC at 11 a.m. and Cayuga CC at 2 p.m.  Tournament playoffs start at 3 p.m. with the quarterfinal round.

ASC is now 8-5 on the year and 8-3 in Region III Division III competition.
