Tiffany McLaughlin (Wellsville) scored 18 of her game-high 23 points in the first half on her way to being named MVP of the tournament. McLaughlin was 8 for 24 from the field, 2 for 5 from three, and 5 for 5 from the line. She added six rebounds, five assists, and a steal.
Anthia Smith (Elmira Free) was named to the all-tournament team after recording a double-double with 11 points and 16 rebounds. Christina Loder (Brantford, ONT) came off the bench and chipped in eight points whle Sherelle Brooks (Elmira Free), Hillary York (Canisteo Greenwood), and Rechelle Brooks (Elmira Free) each ended with five points.
Diaysha Brewington led Dean with 15 points, 15 rebounds, and five blocks while Lecia DiPietro added 14 points. Shelly Monahan was the third Bulldog in double-figures finishing with 12. Brewington and Monahan were both named to the all-tournament team.
ASC held a 30-26 lead at halftime and was able to finally push the lead out to double-digits in the final five minutes of the game. The Lady Pioneers shot 30.4% from the field and from three-point land while the Bulldogs shot 31.6% from the field and 41.7% from three. Dean held a slight 52 to 50 advantage on the boards but Alfred caused 25 Dean turnovers.
In the consolation game Jefferson CC downed Fulton Montgomery CC 65-64. Jefferson's Linda Gruber led the Cannoneers with 13 points, 14 rebounds, and five blocks while Jana Rogers led in scoring with 19. FMCC was led by Mallory Nelson who finished with 19 points and 19 boards. Gruber and Nelson were both named to the all-tournament team.
The Lady Pioneers have won three of the four ASC Tournaments including the last two. They improve to 7-1 overall in tournament action.
A-State begins a three-game road trip on Tuesday with a contest at Finger Lakes CC at 6 p.m. They spend next weekend in New England with a Saturday contest at the CC of Rhode Island and a rematch with Dean College on Sunday.
