Lady Pioneers finish 5th at Outdoor Regionals

The Alfred State College women's outdoor track and field team finished 5th at the Region III Championships held at Alfred State College this weekend.  The Lady Pioneers scored 92 points during the two day event.

The Alfred State College women's outdoor track and field team finished 5th at the Region III Championships held at Alfred State College this weekend.  The Lady Pioneers scored 92 points during the two day event.

Najia McGee (Rochester/Edison) paced the women's team with two individual titles and helped bring home a relay title.  McGee won the 100 in 12.79 and the 200 in 26.20.  She was also part of the winning 4 x 100 relay team that won in 50.46.  Joining McGee in the relay was Reaghan Bulkley (Avoca), Caitlyn Peterson (Wayne), and Callie Ayers (Letchworth).

Ayers finished 2nd in the 800 (2:28.93), Heather Sears (Letchworth) finished 2nd in the pole vault (2.35 m), and Peterson finished 4th in the 100 (13.50) and 5th in the 200 (27.61).  Emily Fields (Red Creek) earned 3rd in the discus (27.06 m) and 6th in the shot put (8.32 m).

Herkimer CCC won the women's team title with 163.5 points.  They were followed by Mohawk Valley (115), Cobleskill (108), Finger Lakes CC (101), ASC (92), Erie CC (66), and Delhi (30.5).

The Lady Pioneers now shift their focus to the NJCAA Division III National Championships which begin on Thursday at SUNY Delhi.
