Lady Pioneers Advance to Title Game

The Alfred State College women's basketball team defeated Jefferson CC 70-44 to advance to the title game of the 2010 ASC Tournament.  The Lady Pioneers are now 6-3 on the season and will take on Fulton Montgomery CC tomorrow in the championship game at Noon.

The Alfred State College women's basketball team defeated Jefferson CC 70-44 to advance to the title game of the 2010 ASC Tournament.  The Lady Pioneers are now 6-3 on the season and will take on Fulton Montgomery CC tomorrow in the championship game at Noon.

Amie Brooks (Pavilion) was 9 for 15 from the field and led all scorers with 20 points.  Khaylah Moss (Chenango Valley) finished with 10 points and seven boards, Shadeeka Campbell (Brooklyn/William Grady) finished with six points, 10 rebounds, and five blocks, and Camille Romero (Queens Valley/Mary Louis) came off the bench and had eight points.

Taylore Kelsey led the Cannoneers with 10 points off the bench while Megan Maitland finsihed with seven points and six assists.  Emily Males finished with 4 points and 10 rebounds.

ASC led 33 to 27 at half and held a 52 to 36 rebounding advantage.  The Lady Pioneers shot 45.5% from the floor while the Lady Cannoneers shot just 30.9%.

Fulton Montgomery defeated Hagerstown (MD) 71-57 in the other first round contest.  Jefferson CC and Hagerstown will battle in the consolation game at 10 a.m. on Sunday.
