Lacrosse Ends Regular Season with Convincing Win

The Alfred State College lacrosse team wrapped up the regular season with a convincing 16-4 victory over Tompkins Cortland CC.  The Pioneers, ranked #10 in the latest NJCAA poll, will head into the postseason with a 10-3 record and a 8-3 mark in Region III play.

The Alfred State College lacrosse team wrapped up the regular season with a convincing 16-4 victory over Tompkins Cortland CC.  The Pioneers, ranked #10 in the latest NJCAA poll, will head into the postseason with a 10-3 record and a 8-3 mark in Region III play.

Ryan Grogan (Churchville) led the offense with three goals and two assists while Josh Mateo (Waterloo) and Ben Rossignolo (Churchville) chipped in two goals and an assist.  Tony Micelotta (Irondequoit) and Cory Mee (Churchville) scored twice, William Ardolino (William Floyd) netted a goal and passed out an assist, and Tyler Baird (Corning West) passed out two assists.

James Moss (Hilton), Anthony Amoroso (Jamestown), and Eric Danheiser (Sweet Home) all scored once while Chase Bailey (Corning West) picked up an assist.

Marshall Merritt (Marcellus) made 15 saves to earn the victory in net.

The Pioneers will learn who and where they will play in the first round of the Region III Tournament on Monday morning.  The blue and gold most likely will be the #5 seed and travel to #4 Monroe CC on Tuesday for a first round contest.
