The Alfred State College lacrosse team improved to 8-2 heading into the final week of the regular season following a 19-8 victory over Mercyhurst North East.  The Pioneers led 9-5 at half but put the game out of reach by outscoring the Saints 7 to 1 in the 3rd quarter.

The Alfred State College lacrosse team improved to 8-2 heading into the final week of the regular season following a 19-8 victory over Mercyhurst North East.  The Pioneers led 9-5 at half but put the game out of reach by outscoring the Saints 7 to 1 in the 3rd quarter.

Josh Mateo (Waterloo) and Ryan Grogan (Churchville) each finished with five points.  Mateo tallied four goals and an assist while Grogan finished with three goals and two assists.  Ryan Speciale (Corning West) found the back of the net three times and passed out an assist, Tony Micelotta (Irondequoit) scored once and three assists, and William Ardolino (William Floyd) and James Moss (Hilton) each scored twice and had an assist.

Ben Rossignolo (Churchville) had a goal and two assists while Michael Harris had a goal and an assist.  Cory Mee (Churchville) and Chase Bailey (Corning West) each scored a goal while Tyler Baird (Corning West) and Eric Danhesier (Sweet Home) were credited with assists.

Mashall Merritt (Marcellus) made eight saves in net to record the victory.

ASC, ranked #10 in the latest NJCAA poll and 6-2 in Region III play, returns to action on Wednesday when they host #1 Onondaga CC at Pioneer Park at 4 p.m.
