The Alfred State indoor track & field team had an impressive showing at the Ithaca Bomber Invitational.  The Pioneers had numerous athletes finish in the top eight of the competition that featured nine schools.

The Alfred State indoor track & field team had an impressive showing at the Ithaca Bomber Invitational.  The Pioneers had numerous athletes finish in the top eight of the competition that featured nine schools.

Shawn Charles (Rochester/Greece Olympia) earned 2nd place finishes in two events.  He was 2nd in the 60 m dash in 7.08 and 2nd in the 200 m in 23.12.  The men's 4 x 200 relay also earned a 2nd place finish.  The team of Brian Tubbs (Waverly), Rawle Crawford (Mt. Vernon), Jayvon Larkin (Rochester/Wilson), and Marcquis Johnson Broughton (Rochester/Edison) finished in 1:35.20.

Larkin also recorded a 3rd place finish in the triple jump (12.8 m) while his teammate Austin Ridley (Trumansburg) was 5th in the same event (11.5 m).  Robert Howard (Syracuse/Nottingham) was 4th in the shot put (13.55 m) and Rony St. Simon (Farmingdale) was 5th in the 500 (1:11.31).

The women's 4 x 200 relay team of Tara Murphy (Rochester/Wilson), Briana Dorsey (Rochester/School of the Arts) Megan Votava (Alfred Almond), and Caitlyn Hotchkiss (Springville) finished 4th overall in 1:54.58.

Dorsey was 4th in the 500 (1:23.99) and Murphy was 7th in the 400 (1:02.19).

The Pioneers return to action next weekend at Cornell University.  A couple athletes will compete in the multi event beginning on Friday while the rest of the team will compete in the annual Kane Invitational.
