Alex Curran (Williamson) and David Gross (Brockport) led the Alfred State College track and field team in competition on Saturday at Roberts Wesleyan.  The Pioneers got back in action after over two weeks off after poor weather cancelled events at U of R and Houghton College.

Alex Curran (Williamson) and David Gross (Brockport) led the Alfred State College track and field team in competition on Saturday at Roberts Wesleyan.  The Pioneers got back in action after over two weeks off after poor weather cancelled events at U of R and Houghton College.

Curran won the pole vault with a leap of 14'6" while Gross won the shot put with a throw of 14.49 m.  Gross also finished 4th in both the discus (42 m) and the hammer throw (45 m).

Shawna McNeil (Hornell) qualified for nationals with a 6th place finish in the 100 hurdles (17.40) while Allyne O'Hearn (Pelham, NH) was 5th in the 10,000 (46:57).  Corey Smith (Wallkill) also qualified for nationals with a run of 35:48 in the 10,000.

ASC returns to action next Saturday when they travel to SUNY Brockport to compete in the Golden Eagle Invitational.  Action is set to begin at 10 a.m.
