The Alfred State College cross country teams defeated Finger Lakes CC in the ASC Invitational on Saturday.  The Pioneer men scored a perfect 15 in winning while the women won by a score of 24-31.

The Alfred State College cross country teams defeated Finger Lakes CC in the ASC Invitational on Saturday.  The Pioneer men scored a perfect 15 in winning while the women won by a score of 24-31.

In the men's race, the Pioneers (ranked #2 in NJCAA Division III) took the first nine finishing spots.  Brandon Lewis (Red Creek) won the 8K with a time of 30:57.  Ryan Demers (Mexico) finished 2nd (31:02.96), Frank Mastraccio (Rome Free) was 3rd (31:15.32), and Alex Farrell (N. Tonawanda) was 4th (31:25.81).  Derek Snyder (Bath) was 5th (31:51.79), Tyler Pettit (Mexico) was 6th (31:57.28), and Jordan Friedman (Clarkstown South) was 7th (32:21.01).  Wiliam Landry Lamotte was FLCC's top finisher in 10th place.  FLCC scored a 50.

Abbey Benton (Frewsburg) won the women's title finishing the 5K course in 24:00.38.  Tara Murphy (Rochester/Wilson) was 3rd (25:02.49), Alison Hadley (Mt. Mercy) was 5th (27:44.98) was 5th, and Zinta Rutins (Silver Spring, MD) was 6th (28:43.13).  Shannon O'Brien led FLCC with a 2nd place finish in 24:31.67).  FLCC finished with a score of 31.

The Pioneers return to action next Saturday when they travel to Finger Lakes (Canandaigua, NY) for the Bruce Bridgeman Invitational.
