Both the men's and women's cross country teams at Alfred State College were victorious at the annual ASC Invitational.  The women scored a 10 and the men a 29.

Both the men's and women's cross country teams at Alfred State College were victorious at the annual ASC Invitational.  The women scored a 10 and the men a 29.

Bridget McMahon (Avoca) won the women's 5K race with a run of 24:05.6.  Abby Benton (Frewsburg) finished 2nd (24:51.2), Maria Wilson (Addison) finished 3rd (25:41.5), and Allynne O'Hearn (Pelham, NH) was 4th (25:53.4).

ASC's women scored a 10 followed by Finger Lakes CC's 26.

In the men's 8K race, Erie CC's Cory Pepero won the race in 30:48.4.  ASC's Joe Seitz (Williamsville) crossed the finish line in 2nd (31:13.2) while teammate Logan Drummer (Pioneer) was 3rd (31:38.0).  Alex Farrell (North Tonawanda) was 5th (31:51.9), Peter Francia (Greece Olympia) was 9th (33:26.6), and Brandon Lewis (Red Creek) was 11th (34:45.4).

ASC's men scored a 29 just ahead of Erie CC's 32.  Finger Lakes was 3rd with 67.

Runners from Bryant & Stratton and Lackawanna (PA) College also participated in the race.

The Pioneers return to action next Saturday when they compete at the FLCC Invitational.  The race will be a preview of the National Championship course that will be run in early November.
