Crooker and Sweeney honored by NJCAA, Men 3rd and Women 5th in latest poll

John Sweeney (Barker) and Carey Crooker (Addison) have been named the NJCAA Division III runners of the week.  In the newly released national poll the men's team sits in 3rd and the women in 5th.

Carey Crooker (Addison) have been named the NJCAA Division III runners of the week.  In the newly released national poll the men's team sits in 3rd and the women in 5th.

Sweeney finished 14th at the Highlader Invitational this weekend.  He ran the five mile course in 26:57 to register the first sub 27 minute time of the season in Division III of the NJCAA.

The Pioneer men received 320 points in the national poll and trail just SUNY Delhi (400) and Mohawk Valley CC (360).  Other Region III opponents in the national poll include Broome (5th) and Erie (8th).

Crooker ran the 5K course at Houghton in 20:19 to earn 23rd place overall and the top spot for all junior college runners. 

The Pioneer women received 210 points in the poll.  Broome CC is ranked #1, Ocean CC #2, Mohawk Valley CC #3, and SUNY Delhi #4.

Both the men and women have this weekend off but will return to action on October 10th when they compete at the Nazarth Invitational.
