New Horizon’s Forum with Dr. Marty Schmidt set for March 14

Dr. Marty Schmidt, Vice President and Director of Environmental Remediation in Cleveland, OH, will be the guest speaker at the New Horizon’s Forum, presented by the School of Arts and Sciences at Alfred State, on Thursday evening, March 14 in the Physical and Health Sciences Building, Room 107. The program will start at 6:30 p.m. following a brief reception that begins at 6 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Parking is available in Lot No. 8 on the Alfred State campus.

Schmidt’s presentation, “Implementation of Sustainable Remediation Opportunities for ‘Win-Win’ Solutions for all Stakeholders”, focuses on the remediation effort involving the former Sinclair Refinery in Wellsville and how the Atlantic Richfield Company developed a holistic, ‘win-win’ approach that provided a long-term contribution to the environment, the community, local businesses, regulators, and others. His presentation details the techniques, remedies, and the overall methodology that was used to address the situation.

New Horizon’s Forum programs are sponsored by the School of Arts and Sciences to enrich the intellectual, social, and cultural life of the college by showcasing the results of recent scholarly, creative, or public service works by faculty, professional staff, students, and invited guests.
