Swim Team Dives Back into Action

The Alfred State swimming team traveled to Wells College open up the 2013 portion of their schedule.  The men fell 56-31 to the Express while the women were downed 81-3.

Mark Pendleton (Beacon) was a double winner by winning the 1650 free (20:15.63) and the 100 free (58.11).  Jake Drew (Victor) tied in the 100 backstroke (1:09.06) while Tyler Easterbook (Bath Haverling) was 2nd in the 200 free (2:08.52) and Josh McDowell (Wayland Cohocton) was 2nd in the 100 fly (1:04.74).

The 200 medley relay team of Drew, Pendleton, McDowell, and Easterbrook won in 1:56.56.  The quartet also finished 2nd in the 400 free relay (3:59.85).

Maggie McBurney (Syracuse/Jamesville Dewitt) was the lone female swimmer in the competition for Alfred.  She finsihed 3rd in the 200 free (2:44.35), 3rd in the 100 free (1:17.46), and 3rd in the 500 free (7:32.87).

The Pioneer return to Region III action on Saturday when they compete at the Monroe CC Invitational.  Action is slated to begin at 1 p.m.
