Cross Country Ranked 2nd

Both Alfred State cross country teams have moved up the #2 spot in the latest NJCAA Division III poll.  The men made a jump from the #7 spot last week while the women climbed from the #5 spot.

Harper (IL) College is in the top spot in the men's poll followed by Alfred, Ocean County College, Gloucester (NJ) CC, and SUNY Delhi.  Mohawk Valley CC, Suffolk CC, Howard (MD) CC, Lorain (OH) CC, and Queensborough round out the top ten.

Pioneer Jordan Rusek (Buffalo/Williamsville East) was honored by the Hill N' Dale weekly report as the male cross country athlete of the week.  Rusek was the Pioneers top finisher at the Houghton Invitational with a 27th place finish.  He crossed the 8k finish line in 28:02.7.

Mohawk Valley CC sits on top of the women's poll followed by Alfred, Gloucester, Ocean, Delhi, Suffolk, Howard, Joliet (IL) College, Queensborough, and Herkimer CCC.  The Lady Pioneers, the defending NJCAA Division III National Champions, have been in the top ten for all four editions of the 2012 poll.

The Pioneers have this weekend off but will return to action on October 6th when they travel to the Hamilton College Invitational.
