Lady Pioneers Roll Past JCC-Olean

The Alfred State women's soccer team continued their solid play with a 5-0 win over Jamestown CC - Olean Campus.  The Lady Pioneers are now 8-1 on the season and 7-0 in Region III Division III play.

Alfred scored all five of their goals in the first half and held a 42 to 2 shot advantage for the game.

Hannah Holmok (Alfred Almond) got the blue & gold on the board early with a goal 1:36 in.  Ally Vargeson (Addison) scored the next two goals at 7:24 and 35:55 to give the Pioneers a commanding 3-0 lead.  Her second was assisted by Anna Rath (Medina).  Steph Simard (Warsaw) scored with 2:08 remaining in the half and then assisted on a goal by Keri Teufel (Holbrook/Sachem) one minute later.

Krista DeCarlo (Bayshore/West Islip) and Kayla Scharet (Warsaw) combined in net for the shutout for Alfred.  Amy Hulin made 23 saves for the Lady Jaguars.

During the Lady Pioneers, ranked #5 in the latest NJCAA DIII poll, eight game winning streak they have outscored opponents 31 to 3 and have recorded five shutouts.

Alfred heads to Orchard Park on Thursday for a 3 p.m. contest with Erie CC.
